Not far from Olbia with its airport and lively city bustle is located San Teodoro, one of small yet fashionable resorts of Costa Smeralda. The town is cozy and possess its specific originality, which allows immersing into authentic atmosphere of Italy, known to us by old movies of Fellini and Bertolucci.
Just walk down shadowy winding streets, swing by exquisite boutiques, numerous stores and sophisticated restaurants, on the terraces of which it smells so tasty with coffee and buns and you will fell in love with San Teodoro forever. Sophisticated architecture of the old town with its graceful saint Anthony and saint Andrea temples makes gothic novels with their complex mazes and mysterious monks coming to mind. Saint Theodor Tiron, whose mosaic image is reverently stored in the church dedicated to him, is the resort’s patron.
But the resort in not every time a good place for calm family vacation. On summer life pulsates here around: famous producers and actors come to international festival, carnival processions with festive travesties and public festivities are organized, festival of trans-music «SunandBass» take place.
The town’s surrounding are no less beautiful: perhaps you will never get tired with rambling through sandy beaches and admire picturesque lakes, pink flamingos and turbulent waterfalls. Also worth visiting is Moltiniedde («Black mountain») – the only single hilly place on the territory of the resort. Out from here you will have a fantastic view of the whole littoral and mysterious island of Tavolara. By its shape it resembles a spine of a huge fish or some unknown sea monster. There is only one single restaurant on the island, «Da Tonino», the owner of which is the last descendant of royal dynasty which used to reign here once. As for Tavolara used to be the tiniest kingdom in the world.
Give yourself the trouble of visiting Archeological museum, where a vast collection of minerals, ancient sea inhabitants and other exhibits discovered while diving trips awaits you.
One more San-Theodoro’s nature attraction is Cala Girgolu, a true paradise for a photographer. Clear azure sea in combination with lush green and reddish granite cliffs will take you into alternate universe.
